About the owner/trainer: Sophia has been active in the k9 community for much of her life, working dogs in various competitions. She got her start in Jack Russell Terrier competitions, working in agility, go-to-ground, racing, barn hunting, and flyball. Moving from the sport dog community to the working dog, she was able to take an apprenticeship training working k9s. This transition allowed her to transform her training techniques into a hybrid of various styles. Sophia later completed her certification as an Explosives K9 Trainer to further her experience in the working discipline.

No two dogs train the same so it is important to have the ability to adapt to all training situations. The most enjoyable part of training for Sophia is working with a challenging dog and watching the dog succeed at the end of the training program. 

When Sophia is not training dogs, she is competing with her K9 Envy. Envy is an explosive detection and patrol K9, born in Brazil and trained by Sophia. They compete regularly in working scenario based competitions, french ring, and most recently on America's Top Dog on A&E (season 2).

Across all training applications, the most important aspect is to promote success of the K9 in his applied field. Creating a product that is sound in his environment, excited to do his intended job, and works successfully for his human companion is the ultimate goal for all K9s that come through the Fox K9 program. Whether that be a narcotics detection, protection, or pet dog it is important that each K9 knows how to act in his environment and the people that involves.
